Traimit Witthayalai School in Bangkok, Thailand, is a national male school under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education of Thailand, which belongs to the First Education District in Bangkok, Thailand. The school has a history of 126 years since its establishment. Traimit Witthayalai School is located in the Wat Traimit in Bangkok. In 2000, it was awarded the title of “Bangkok Chinese Language Education Center” by the Ministry of Education of Thailand, and later was awarded the title of “Bangkok Chinese Language Quality Education Promotion Center” by the Department of Basic Education of Thailand. In 2005, Traimit Witthayalai School in Bangkok, Thailand formally established a friendly school relationship with Tianjin Experimental High School in China, which regularly sent Chinese teachers to Traimit Witthayalai School to carry out Chinese teaching, and Traimit Witthayalai School annually sent teachers and students to Tianjin (China) for cultural exchange. In 2006, Traimit Witthayalai School and Tianjin Experimental High School jointly established the world’s first Confucius Classroom - the Confucius Classroom of Traimit Witthayalai School. The classroom now has an independent teaching area of 628 square meters with two floors. The second floor is the Chinese Culture Exhibition Center, and the third floor is the Chinese Culture Experience Center and Distance Education Center. In 2011, Master Somdet Thongchai won the Global “Outstanding Contribution Award of Confucius Institute” awarded by Office of China National Chinese International Promotion Leading Group. In 2015, Somdet Thongchai won the Global Advanced Individual Award issued by the Office of China National Chinese International Promotion Leading Group; in 2012 and 2014, the Confucius Classroom of Traimit Witthayalai School was awarded the title of “Advanced Confucius Classroom” by the Office of China National Chinese International Promotion Leading Group. At present, the school has two local Chinese teachers and several volunteer teachers. The school offers Chinese courses for students from grade one to grade three in senior high school, and has a Chinese strengthening class for each grade. The intensive class has 8-10 Chinese classes every week. The Chinese intensive class in junior middle school has three courses: basic, communication and listening and speaking; the intensive class in senior high school has four courses: basic, communication, listening and speaking, and reading and writing. |
