For some young adults in China, their kindergarten years were filled with heavy school work. The aim was to help them thrive in a competitive environment when they went to school. But as the belief that children should develop their own interests grows more popular, kids nowadays are luckier.

Preschool educational methods are usually adopted in kindergartens, like playing, singing, practical activities, including drawing and social interaction.

"Through diverse activities, we aim to boost children's healthy development," said Yang Caixia, Kindergarten Principal of China National Children’s Center, "We cultivate their senses to look at the big picture, which helps them build confidence and positive attitudes."

A range of books is essential for children during reading time. The teacher said young kids have access to books from domestic and abroad.

"Different children have different personalities. As teachers, we discover what they are good at and provide them with chances to express themselves," said Chen Xue, a teacher from China National Children’s Center.

Teachers are like directors in a film, directing and motivating kids during their time at the kindergarten. They have different standards to evaluate the children's performances.

"We hope the kids have strong learning skills, are able to focus on one task and set their goals accordingly. They should have the ability to overcome difficulties and achieve their goals," said Yang.

Childhood creates the values, mindset and disposition that determine our interaction with the world around us for the rest of our lives.

Children, therefore, have one very special right, and that is the ability to be able to develop naturally and happily to their full potential. Children’s Day is dedicated to helping ensure that this can happen.
